Do you want to continue your postgraduate studies in the UK? A GREAT scholarship could be for you! 

For the 2025/26 academic year, the British Council is offering 13 master’s scholarships, across various subjects for students from Turkey, in partnership with UK universities.

Each scholarship is worth at least £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course. 

Scholarships are jointly funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council, together with participating UK higher education institutions. Worldwide, for the 2025/26 academic year, 200 GREAT scholarships are available to students from 15 countries, offered by 70 UK universities.

What are we looking for in GREAT scholar?

You must be:

  • a citizen of Turkey (or other eligible country);
  • have an undergraduate degree, be motivated and have an interest in the proposed subject area;
  • meet the English language requirement of the UK university;
  • establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment;
  • be willing to attend a networking event for all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK;
  • be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and their university or higher education institution and act as an ambassador for the GREAT scholarships;
  • as an alumnus/a of the GREAT scholarships, be willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about his or her own experience of studying in the UK.

  • Apply for individual scholarships following the instructions given on each university’s scholarship webpages.
  • The deadline to apply for a GREAT Scholarship varies according to each institution. For details on individual institutions’ deadlines, please see each institution’s page.
  • Successful scholars will be informed by individual universities on the result of their applications. The British Council cannot comment on the state of your application, as this is managed by universities.
  • Scholarship funding will be issued to successful scholars by individual universities after registration.
