International Policy Forum of the Creative Industries took place on Thursday 24 November 2022 at Zorlu PSM, Sky Lounge in Istanbul, Türkiye and online at the British Council Türkiye YouTube channel.

The forum was based on work by the Creative Industries Policy and Evidence Centre International Council, which resulted in the publication recommending 11 key actions: 'A Global Agenda for the Cultural and Creative Industries' (2021).

The overarching theme and objective of the forum is to support the growth of the creative economy in Wider Europe by increasing the understanding of current developments and opportunities within the cultural and creative industries, presenting examples of best practice work from the UK, Europe, Turkey, the region and beyond.

The sessions considered this within the context of policymaking for the creative economy, considering factors such as sustainable development, the emergence of new business models, the rise of creative cities, technology disruption and innovative approaches to content creation and distribution.

The event brought together creative economy stakeholders from Wider Europe (Central Asia, South Caucasus, Turkey, Ukraine and Western Balkans) and the PEC International Council international  (representing Brazil, Canada, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, India, Indonesia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Switzerland, South Africa, Uganda, UK, and USA).   We look forward to seeing you on 24 November in Istanbul.
